Healthy Cinnamon Spiced Mix Nuts

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 1/2 cups raw nuts (pecans, almonds and walnuts work well)

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cumin seed, ground

  • 1 1/2 tsp sesame seed (ground)

  • 1/2-1 tsp sea salt

  • few drops of warm water or olive oil if needed

INSTRUCTIONS:

•Preheat over to 250 F.

•Whisk all of the dry ingredients except nuts in a bowl until fully combined then add the maple syrup to make paste. You'll want the consistency to be a little runny so that it mixes well with the nuts (not thick) but not too runny. Add a few drops of warm water or a little coconut or avocado oil if needed. If you add too much liquid you can simply add more seasoning (and nuts).

•Add nuts and toss until coated

•Using a rubber spatula spread nuts and any paste on a baking pan lined with parchment or Silpat.

•Cook for 15-20 minutes, checking periodically and tossing.

•Let nuts cool in the pan.  Once cool you can serve immediately or store in air tight container for 1-2 weeks.
